Supporting and advocating for women’s rights is part of the AEU’s core business. Women make up 75% of our membership. We campaign and lobby around issues that impact women the most, including family friendly work arrangements, equitable promotion practices and work environments that are free of discrimination and harassment. We are also committed to supporting those members who work in casual, contract and other insecure work because we know that insecure work makes it hard for women to balance work and family life. We have a Women’s Committee that assists in determining the priorities for the Women’s Program and key aspects of that are the Federal Women’s Conference, Anna Stewart Memorial Project and policy development, with prioritisation and carriage of recommendations arising from Women’s Conferences.
