Andrew Butler has recently been appointed to the position of Extension Schools Project Officer and will be assisting members in schools and colleges affected by Year 11 and 12 extensions.

Andrew has an extensive teaching background at Claremont College, followed by an appointment within the senior-secondary extension offered at Huonville High School. He is well versed in the issues faced by teachers and administrators in implementing Year 11 and 12 programs.

Given that the Year 11/12 extension school concept transcends traditional secondary and senior-secondary boundaries, this new ‘space’ is not formally represented within the existing AEU structure.  Andrew has therefore prioritised identification of teachers working within this emerging sector and his key objective will be delivering targeted representation, advice, and support to those members.

To facilitate contact, Andrew will shortly liaise with individual AEU workplace Reps to gather Year 11/12 staffing information and will also organise workplace visits to meet members working in extension schools, at the earliest available opportunity.

Should you have a query or require advice in the meantime, please contact Andrew by email at projectofficer@aeutas.org.au  or by calling 1800 001 313.
