A new staff room is being installed at TasTAFE Clarence campus following a strong union push.

Having listened to member concerns and in recognition of the need for improved facilities, AEU TasTAFE Reps approached campus management citing the need for upgrades.

The advocacy from Reps Ben Wright, Fiona Thollar and Deb Brewer has since resulted in a big union win, with TasTAFE management confirming plans are in place for a C Block staff room.

Ben Wright said it was pleasing to see their efforts had paid off.

“We had to negotiate strongly to enable TasTAFE to agree,” he said.

“Finally it seems our efforts have been successful.”

He said the push exemplified the power of union.

“This action taken by Reps just proves how powerful the strength of AEU TAFE membership is,” he said.

“We hope members are happy with where we have landed with this.”

Ben said AEU Reps received an email advising that an architect had been appointed and a draft plan designed after consultation with Reps and the C block EMs.
