TAFE Organiser Simon Bailey gives a wrap of TasTAFE issues….
Our State of TasTAFE survey was completed by 50% of the membership with some interesting results garnished. A full report will be available in August once the results have been collated. Thanks to all the members who took the time to complete the survey and for taking the time to provide feedback.
Do you want to be part of future EBA reference groups? The AEU will be holding forums around the state and will be inviting all members to become involved in dissecting the TasTAFE Teachers Agreement. This is your chance to talk through what works for you and what doesn’t.
We need an Agreement that allows staff to have their output measured equally no matter where you may be working. Teaching staff are increasingly being required to do more administration duties with DOTT and the duties of a teacher are two key areas which will be placed under the spotlight. Practical relevant professional development is another item that members are crying out for. “myPlan” has been a failure with our survey revealing that 38% of employees are still stuck on myPlan A. Only 28% have completed myPLAN C with 85% of respondents agreeing that myPLAN has not provided them with any benefit.
The Integrity Commission Report has caused quite a lot of angst within the membership, the AEU has tried to work in an positive manner whilst raising concerns on behalf of its members. The upcoming Audit by WLF Accounting and Advisory will hopefully provide a way for the organization to move forward ensuring that all its employees are provided the necessary support to be able to do their jobs at the level expected of them.
