A reminder that, if you haven’t already, you must access your TOIL days (to make up for those you may have lost in 2014 and 2015) before the end of this year.
We helped secure an agreement with the State Government last year that provides Support Staff for one-day TOIL for 2014, 2015 and 2017 in lieu of the Easter holidays which fell/will fall in the school holiday period. There isn’t an issue this year (2016) because Easter is during Term time.
The agreement only applies to you if you work a maximum 40-42 weeks per year. It does not apply to you if you work 52 weeks a year.
If you worked during the Easter Holidays in 2014 and/or 2015 then you may be eligible for up to two days’ TOIL. If you think this may apply to you, and you haven’t done so already, then talk to your line manager.
It is preferable that the TOIL days are taken on a student free day, when no relief is required, but that is not a requirement. Negotiate with your line manager suitable day/s.
There is also the option of taking a few hours at a time and making up the entitled hours over several days, again by mutual agreement between you and your line manager.
This arrangement also applies in 2017.
