The AEU today called on the Tasmanian Liberal Government to lobby the Federal Government for infrastructure funding, that was originally secured for the National Vocational Education Fund.
“We need to ensure that our TAFE campuses are modernised and are able to offer students the best learning environment possible,” said Simon Bailey, AEU Tasmania TAFE President.
Currently the State Government has committed $9 million dollars for a new Trades and Water Facility at the Warrane Campus and $4 million for upgrading the Alanvale Campus.
“We also call for a further allocation of $8 million dollars from the State Government for upgrading the Devonport Valley Road Campus and Burnie Mooreville Road Campus,” said Mr Bailey.
“Securing $21 million dollars of Federal money would improve the working environment for AEU members and allow students to be taught in facilities which support them to succeed in their chosen qualification.
“TasTAFE deserves the best possible facilities possible and should be funded at the same level as other education sectors.”
