A new staff abuse reporting App is now live for use in schools, libraries and child and family learning centres, following a strong AEU push for new measures addressing disrespectful behaviour in Tasmanian schools.
The Abuse, Incident and Accident (AIA) Reporting App has been tested by AEU organisers Adam Clifford and John O’Rourke as well as branch executive member Shane Oldfield, with feedback provided back to the DoE.
The development of the app follows the launch of the AEU-involved Respectful Schools Campaign –The Line promoting respectful adult behaviour in Tasmanian schools.
The AIA now has an abuse section which will help record and mitigate verbal and physical harm to staff from both students and others, making it quicker and easier to complete.
Further, the AEU continue to advocate for a designation Learning Services position that manages the appropriate response and workflow, with access to additional resources to support schools as required.
