Premier must step in to end public sector bargaining delays

Thursday, 29 January 2025

Public sector unions will hold a joint media conference at 12pm today calling on Premier Jeremy Rockliff to step up and take control of stalled public sector wage negotiations.

Workers have endured months of callous delays, stalling tactics, and disrespect from their employer as the Government hamstrung their own lead negotiator, who was denied the authority to agree to meaningful change at the bargaining table.

Union members now stand united in saying enough is enough, and that responsibility now sits squarely with the Premier to intervene and ensure negotiations are resolved.

If the Premier fails to act, he risks pushing workers toward further industrial action.

It is now up to Jeremy Rockliff to step in, show leadership, and bring these negotiations to a conclusion before workers are left with no choice but to escalate industrial action.
