New and improved conditions for Support Staff:
- Reducing unpaid stand down: 6-7 extra days permanent paid work every year:
- You’ll now be paid for the 4-5 public holidays that fall during term, instead of receiving TOIL
- On student-free days, you’ll be paid to partipiate in PL. If you prefer TOIL, you still have the option to access it
- An additional 2 days paid time to attend violence in schools training
- Eligibility for an extra paid public holiday (increasing from 9 to 10)
- TA specialisation & career pathways: DECYP will start working with the AEU on a review of TA Statement of Duties, as well as developing formal career pathways for specialisation. This includes identifying pathways to be paid to attain qualifications.
- TA Aquatic Allowance: $10 per day for TAs supporting students in the water; time in water now must not exceed 3 hours
- Toileting Allowance: all staff required to undertake toileting will now receive the allowance – no one left out
- Health Care Procedures Allowance: Any and all medically-certified procedures will now incur this allowance
- Hard to Staff Schools allowance: 9-month trial of extending existing allowance to support staff at Jordan River; after trial this will be expanded to all hard to staff schools.
Standard conditions:
- Right to Disconnect you are legally protected to refuse to work outside your normal hours (e.g., emails and phone calls)
- 5 paid Personal Impact Days (pro rata)
- 25 days’ paid Family & Domestic Violence Leave (up from 20)
- 5 days Reproductive Leave (pro rata) to attend appointments related to reproductive health or managing reproductive health conditions
- Carers leave doubled from 10 days to 20 per annum
- Personal leave will now be available for medical appointments
- Recreation Leave applications must receive response within 14 days (and cannot be unreasonably refused)
- New staff eligible for parental leave sooner: 40 weeks’ employment (down from 52)
- Bereavement Leave no longer requires evidence: if asked to provide evidence a stat dec will be sufficient
- 10 days paid Pregnancy Loss Leave + up to 52 weeks Parental Leave (including 18 weeks primary carer leave) in the event of lost pregnancy up to 28 weeks before expected date of birth (other special parental leave entitlements still available)
- Personal, compassionate & breavement leave now applicable to nieces, nephews and niblings
- Gender Affirmation Leave no longer needs to be taken within 52 weeks of first applying for it; new option to take 8 consecutive weeks leave at half pay (in addition to 4 weeks at full pay)
- AEU Reps who work part-time eligible for paid leave to attend AEU training, even if it falls outside usual working hours (put your hand up to become a teacher rep, support staff rep, or co-rep today!
