The AEU Leaders’ Convention will be held at the Tamar Valley Resort in Launceston on Thursday and Friday, May 5 & 6 and it’s likely to be less than two months before a federal election.
It’s anticipated there will be a double dissolution federal election on July 2 and there’s a lot at stake for Tassie schools – about $80M in Gonski funding in fact!
This year’s Leaders’ Convention is therefore critical and if you are a Rep, or co-Rep, you need to get along to ensure you’re campaign fit and federal-election ready!
The Convention is for all Workplace Reps in all sectors. All DOE Reps are entitled to up to five days’ paid relief for union training, of which the Convention forms part. (Paid relief does not apply to TasTAFE Reps)
The theme this year is The Powerful Art of Story Telling and who doesn’t like a good story! You’ll receive great training and learn new skills; be able to network with fellow Reps and you’ll hear from a great line-up of Tasmanian and interstate speakers.
We’re excited and looking forward to seeing you there!
Online registration for the Convention will open at 3pm on Wednesday, March 30, and close on April 14 (no late registrations will be accepted under any circumstance).
