The International Workers’ Memorial day Tasmanian event, organised by Unions Tasmania, will be in Launceston this year at Workers’ Memorial Park in Elizabeth Gardens.
Family, friends and colleagues who have lost someone dear to them through a workplace death or experienced the trauma of a workplace injury – as well as union members, delegates and community members – are invited to a memorial ceremony that will be held on Friday the 28th of April at the Workers’ Memorial Park in Elizabeth Gardens (near Aurora Stadium) in Launceston.
The service will commence at 8am and will be followed by a barbeque breakfast. Workers’ Memorial Day is an international day of remembrance and action for workers killed or injured at work as well as an opportunity to renew calls for safe workplaces.
We also take the time on this day to thank the police, emergency and medical personnel who work so hard to save lives and recognise their courage in the face of trauma and loss.
