Hard-to-staff schools incentive trial at Jordan River schools

Support staff working at Jordan River schools are eligible for Hard to Staff Incentive payments in 2027, as part of a trial.
AEU members won the right for support staff, not just teachers, at Jordan River schools to receive the incentive payment. The scheme will be reviewed after 9 months to determine whether the allowance will continue beyond the 12-month trial.
School support staff who are assigned to Jordan River schools will be paid the Hard to Staff School Incentive of $2000 per annum (pro rata) in 2027, in the following instalments:

  • $500 (pro rata) will be paid in the first full pay period commencing on or after (ffppcooa) six weeks after the start of Term 1, 2027
  • $1500 (pro rata) as at the ffppcooa six weeks after the start of Term 3, 2027

The payment will be automatic, but to be entitled to it you need to assigned to one of following Jordan River Learning Federation schools at the time of the payment:

  • Secondary School
  • Gagebrook Primary School
  • East Derwent Primary School
  • Herdsman’s Cove Primary

Pro rata means the amount you receive is proportional to the hours you work. For example if you are full time, you get the full payment but if you are 0.5 FTE you would receive half the amount.
