The Australian Education Union Tasmanian Branch has led the push for safer schools, colleges, TasTAFE campuses and public education workplaces since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Teachers, principals, support staff and all workers have the right to safe and healthy workplaces. If we are not safe, our students are not safe – our working conditions are their learning conditions.
Strong advocacy, in union, has greatly improved the COVID-19 pandemic response in public education, from support for relief teachers and priority access to vaccination to prioritising ventilation in classrooms and the provision of masks to staff and students.
Together, as over 5,000 Tasmanian teachers, ESP/support staff, principals and other professionals, we’re working to make our workplaces safe, demand the resources our students need and win better working conditions.
We are the voice of public education in Tasmania. We represent and advocate for all teachers, principals and support staff working in government schools, colleges and TAFE.
