A reminder that the new Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement (2016) and the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement (2016) were registered in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission at the end of last year and will deliver many gains for employees.

Here are some of the highlights and key details relevant to both new Agreements:

Period of Agreement

  • 2 years from 1/7/2016 – 30/6/2018

Salary Increases

  • 2% or $1144 pa whichever’s greater – 1 Dec 2016
  • 2% or $1167 pa whichever’s greater – 1 Dec 2017

Wage-Related Allowances (Award)

  • Increase wage-related allowances annually by the salary increases that applies to Band 4-R1-2

Maternity Leave (including adoption)

  • Increase paid maternity from 12 to 14 weeks

Partner Leave (on birth of child/adoption)

  • Increase paid leave for birth or adoption to 1 week plus a right to take a further 2 weeks through access to accrued leave (Recreation or Long Service) or Leave without Pay

Family Violence Leave (Award)

  • 10 days’ paid leave with HoA discretion to approve additional paid leave

Novated Leases

  • All employees will be able to access novated leases (car) with any additional costs covered by employees

Compassionate Leave

  • Bereavement Leave to allow for paid leave where close family member is suffering life threatening illness or injury, within present limit up to 10 days

Lactation Facilities and Breaks

  • Provide suitable facilities and reasonable access to these

facilities for parents in the workplace, where practical
