A Tasmanian AEU member and the union branch are celebrating after union advocacy led to a big payout!
In recent weeks it was identified that a union member had spent several years on the same salary classification, despite having fulfilled the criteria to progress through the salary scales.
After raising the issue with the AEU, the union’s industrial team brought it up with the DoE’s HR unit and the matter was eventually addressed.
It was determined that there had been an underpayment to the member which was to be back-paid more than $14,000!
The member has since also had their salary classification upgraded.
The payout signifies the power of being in union and the resolutions that can be achieved through the AEU’s hardworking industrial team!
